The XXL Freshman list has been highly scrutinized over the past few years for seeming to always leave off prominent breakthrough artists for their coveted cover. This year's list featured a number of artists who made waves, namely Lil Pump and Trippie Redd but a hip-hop veteran took to social media to express his displeasure in the list.

2 Chainz posted the cover on his IG and queried over why artists like Lil Baby, Moneybagg Yo, and Tekashi 6ix9ine were left off the list. He captioned the photo:

Where my lil partna @lilbaby_1 , where braazzzy a** @6ix9ine_@tee_grizzley cold asf @moneybaggyoshould be on there @nba_youngboy hard asf too should be on there!! No this cover isn’t the Bible but people respect it, I’m sure I forgot somebody but these ppl I named keep ???? that check up fuck it ??????????????????#TRU
